Ray Moreno-Band Director
Mr. Moreno is in his 8th year teaching.  He spent 1 year teaching in the Chaffey Joint  Union High School District, 3 years at Mountain View High School in El Monte, and is currently in his 4th year at Patriot High School.  Under his direction the Patriot marching band has finished 5th, 2nd, and 1st at SCSBOA Championhips, and last year they were the silver medalists at WBA Championships. Other than marching band, Patriot also thrives with a strong colorguard program, drumline, and a unique latin jazz program. 

Mr. Moreno was a member of Sound Machine of the Inland Empire Youth Band for 3 years, the Rochester Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps for 2 years (DCI Champions), Riverside Community College Marching Tigers for 2 years, and Pasadena City College Rose Parade Honor Band for 2 years. He also played at Disneyland as a Toy Soldier for 5 years.  

He graduated from California State University Fullerton where he studied conducting with Mitch Fennel and was a member of the CSUF Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo. He received his teaching credential from the University of La Verne. Before Patriot High School Mr. Moreno was a brass and marching instructor for several marching bands in Southern California. 

Mr. Moreno has studied trumpet and jazz with Mark Garrabrandt, Glenn Cashmen,Chuck Tumlinson,  Howie Shear, and Tim Morrison.  He has played with various groups and musicians including Electric Meyham,  Banda Camino Al Norte, The Louie Cruz Beltran Latin Jazz Band, Sonora Dinamita, Scenic Root, and many others along with various chamber and classical groups. Mr. Moreno is an alumni of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional men’s fraternity.  You can also find him performing with his own jazz group, the Ray Moreno Group.  He is currently attending Azusa Pacific University where he is working on his master's degree in conducting. Besides music education Mr. Moreno is also an avid music composer and arranger.  His most recently arrangements  include "Dia De Los Muertos" as well at the arrangements for Patriot's 2011 field show  titled "Requiem For A Revolution."



Matt Regua-Percussion Caption Head/Battery Arranger

Matt Regua has been a percussion instructor at Patriot for the past five years.  He was a former member of Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps and The Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also been a member of Disney’s Toy Soldiers, Sea World’s Riptide Show, Top Secret Drum Corps in Switzerland and South Africa, as well as a recent 10 week engagement playing at an amusement park in Japan.   Besides running the Patriot Drumline, Matt instructs his students on basics of music theory as well as sight reading. Matt Recently finished his degree in Chemical Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona.  Matt is currently the snare tech for RCC's Winter Drumline.

 Troy Campbell- Marching Caption Head
This is Troy's 2nd year working with Patriot High School.  Troy is an alumni of the Sound Machine of the Inland Empire Youth Band, the PCC Honor Band, and the Santa Clara Vanguard.  In Vanguard Troy played lead soprano as well as mellophone from 1997-2001.   Troy has previously worked with Rubidoux High School, King High School, and  Mountain View High School. Troy was recently the lead Toy Soldier in Disney's Christmas Fantasy Parade.  

Danielle Nicklaus- Colorguard Caption Head
Starting at the age of 14, Danielle has been active in the colorguard scene. Graduating from Valley View H.S in 2003 with 4 years under her belt, Danielle began her drum corps career marching with Mandarians (2003), Esperanza (2004), Boston Crusaders (2005), and finishing her drum corps career with the 13-time World Champions The Concord Blue Devils (2006).

During the offseason, she began teaching several Southern California schools including Canyon Springs H.S and the 5-time WGASC medalist Palm M.S. She also joined the world renowned Fantasia Winter Guard (2005), finishing her marching career with the privilege of becoming a WGI Independent World Gold Medalist (2006).

Danielle recently received her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State University San Bernardino, and is blessed to have the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with a variety of students. She is currently pursing a Masters Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Education.


Hector Prado– Pit Instructor
Hector is a graduate of Rubidoux High School.  He has marched with the RCC winter and fall drumlines, as well as the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps.  This is his third year instructing at Patriot, he currently resides in Riverside. 

David Reaver-Marching/Music Instructor
David Reaver is a student at UC Riverside.  He works with our field show and parade band on marching techniques.  He is an alumni of Patriot High School, RIP Drumline, and Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps.  He is currently marching with  the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps where he is a lead trumpet player and was the 2010 DCI Trumpet I&E Champion.

Darren Van Derpoel-Battery Instructor

Darren is an alumni of Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps,RCC Fall and Winter Drumlines, Black Knights Winter Drumline, Esperanza Drum and Bugle Corps and Sea World Riptide Show.  Darren also currently works with El Dorado High School, Diamond Bar High School, and Pulse B. This is Darren's second year working with Patriot.



Jessica Jones-Pit Instructor
This is Jessica's first year working with Patriot.  She is alumni of the RCC Winter Drumline and Avon High School.
